March Favorites
Just a couple March favorites to share with you all today since I spent last month in California with my family and I’m just now getting settled in our apartment in Oregon where we’ll be living for the next few weeks. All opinions are always my own, but I’m always glad to hear your thoughts in the comments as well.

Let’s dive right in with my March Favorites.

March Favorites

I fell in love with a couple natural hair products this month. The first one being this Weleda Rosemary Hair Oil. I recently stopped using conditioner on my hair and I’ve found that this works perfectly as a substitute. Even on days when I don’t wash my hair, I’ll get it wet and work a few drops of this into the ends. The night before I wash my hair, I like to massage this into all my hair overnight to moisturize it before washing it out in the morning. Not only does rosemary smell amazing, but it also helps to stimulate hair growth.

March Favorites

Over the past few months, I had been looking for a travel-friendly gentle and natural shampoo. For a long time, I’ve been wanting to make my own, but knowing that I would be on the road for the next few years kept me from stocking up on the ingredients I’d need because I wouldn’t be able to take everything with me. During my recent visit home to my family in Southern California, we visited the Refill Shoppe in Ventura (more on that coming soon) where I saw this shampoo bar. It was exactly what I was looking for, so I purchased one and I have not been disappointed. It is gentle on my hair and doesn’t strip it of its natural oils and, since getting it, I haven’t needed to use conditioner either. I’m also super excited to eliminate the use of plastic bottles.

Check out this list of ingredients: Olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil, fresh New Hampshire spring water, sodium hydroxide (a binder), organic jojoba oil & almond oil with essential oils of peppermint for fragrance.

I purchased Jojoba and Peppermint, but it also is available in the following varieties:

Rosewater Toner
I’ve been using a rosewater toner on my face for a while and it is one of my favorite beauty products that I use on a daily basis. I’ve found that it helps to eliminate any eye puffiness and I use it throughout the day to freshen my face – especially in the summer or after a workout because it’s amazing at soothing and cooling my skin. Rosewater helps to maintain your skin’s pH balance and its anti-inflammatory properties fight acne, dermatitis and eczema. Its antibacterial and antioxidant properties work to heal scars, strengthen skin cells, and prevent signs of aging. I also use it to set my makeup. And, whenever I am using it, I notice a dramatic improvement in my skin’s softness, brightness, and clarity.

Originally, I had purchased a bottle online, but, recently at the Refill Shoppe, I was able to get my bottle refilled with their Rosewater Toner that also contains aloe (yay!) I even reached out to the shop via email and it looks like they will be willing to refill my bottles through the mail which makes me so thrilled.

Bamboo Toothbrush
In my recently attempts to reduce my waste and eliminate plastic from my home, I found these toothbrushes. Well, actually my mom introduced me to them and I couldn’t be more thankful. At first, brushing felt a little strange, but I quickly got used to it and now I am so happy to be using a toothbrush that is biodegradable.

March Favorites

My brother-in-law gave me this travel tea tumbler from Teavana for Christmas and I have been using it on a daily basis. It has an attachment for the lid for steeping loose-leaf tea and it will keep my drinks hot for hours – no, not lukewarm after a few hours – still hot. The gorgeous ombre cranberry color is a huge bonus. (No link because I cannot find it for sale anywhere – sorry!)

March Favorites

Last, but certainly not least is this stunning leather notebook cover that my friend, Naomi gave me. It’s from Holtz Leather Company which is a family business that makes all of its goods in the USA. The leather is so soft and the craftmanship is superb. This gift was a complete surprise in the mail and Naomi even had them emboss my favorite quote / life phrase / motto on the front “There will be light.” This notebook is going to be the perfect companion for my upcoming travels and I am in love.

What were some of your March favorites?

  • Love this collection of items! Especially the shampoo bar and hair oil. I’ve been planning to find a more natural and gentle shampoo/conditioner regimen once I make it to the bottom of what I have. I’ve previously done the “no poo” thing with baking soda for shampoo and apple cider vinegar as a conditioner. It worked well and is quite inexpensive… but I didn’t love the vinegary smell. I may have to give these a try! Do you know about how long the bar lasts you? I realize it depends on hair length, etc. But perhaps you have a general idea? 🙂

    Lovely post as always!
    Hope you’re doing well!

  • Ooooo that Rosemary oil sounds pretty fabulous!!! I’m all about natural haircare so I will giving that a try!

  • I love the tumbler. I have one just like it, and I am always extolling the benefits to others: less waste and beverage stays hot *forever*.

I also love the notebook. Definitely going to have to check that out.

    Thanks for sharing. 🙂

  • I love that toothbrush! I saw it somewhere else recently and fell in love… would definitely look cuter than my current toothbrush sitting on my sink 🙂

    Justine @ Charm City Ciemny’s

    • It certainly is cuter than your typical plastic toothbrush and it’s better for the environment. Win-win!

  • Can we just talk about how I need that notebook?!? It’s simply gorgeous and yes – perfect for adventures. Totally going to look at their business now. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

    • My pleasure! Glad you like it – it really is gorgeous. Have a great day!

  • That notebook is super cool! I’d love to hear why that “There will be light.” is your favorite quote/mantra sometime! Have you written a post about it?

    Happy Thursday!

    • Happy Thursday to you as well! I actually haven’t written a post about it yet, but I plan to soon. Have a wonderful rest of your week. 🙂

  • As always such a great selection of favorites, Cassie! I love Rosemary in everything but hadn’t thought of oil, I am definitely going to look for one next time I am in the market. I am eyeing that toothbrush, looks too cool, is it not too hard on teeth? Rose toners are the best, reminds me I haven’t restocked since my last one got over, thanks for the reminder 😉
Wow, in Oregon just for a few days? Have a blast, Oregon is beautiful and you are ever in Portland downtown, do go to Cacao and try their drinking chocolate, heavenly (and of course try their Portland’s food carts, unbelievable) 🙂

    • I’ll actually be in Oregon (the Portland area) for four weeks! I’ll be sure to check out your recommendations while I’m here!

  • The Southern Stylista

I am SO thrilled that you featured something from Holtz Leather Co.! They’re one of my favorite companies (based out of AL) and their products are SO well made. That seriously made my day!

    xoxo, SS

    The Southern Stylista

  • What a fun collection! That toothbrush is a great idea to eliminate plastic! And I love rose water! I need to try that one- I always make my own but you had me at aloe!

  • I’m head-over-heels in love with the Weleda Skin Food and you’ve got me really curious about their hair oil. Such a great brand!

  • I love the Weleda brand, but I didn’t know that they had hair oil. Rosemary is really good for the hair, so I’ll have to check out this product. 🙂

  • I love this!! I’m always trying to find ways to use natural products. I love the Rosemary Hair Oil. I am one of those lucky people that only washes my hair once or twice a week, so this would be perfect for me!

    Thanks for sharing! 🙂
