“The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears or the sea.” -Isak Dinesen
Beach days and bonfire nights are just a few of my favorite parts of the Southern California lifestyle. I grew up enjoying Saltwater Summers running wild along the coast and splashing around in the Pacific Ocean. After were were wet and tired, we’d bundle up and huddle around a glorious bonfire and eat sandwiches and s’mores and lay out on a blanket and everything would be perfect. On my most recent trip back to California, we might not have had the time for a bonfire, but my brother and I still took off to watch the sunset on one of our favorite beaches with our favorite fellow California Kids.
Location: Leo Carrillo State Beach, Malibu, California
I’d follow them anywhere.
Ralph Waldo Emerson penned the recipe for the perfect summer, “Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air.” The Pacific Coast is my happy place. It’s my home. There is no better location for a Saltwater Summer and no better place to scamper, climb, run, and laugh with family and best friends.
